We take care of patients and athletes of all ages and work with them, helping get them back to their daily activities whether it is sports, walking, or doing things around the house. We treat fractures, sports injuries, arthritis, back pain, repetitive use injuries, general orthopedics and concussions. Besides offering orthopedics and sports medicine care, we also provide pre-participation physical exams for sports and activities.
ESMI is a non-surgical sports medicine practice and we aim to help you reach your goals without orthopedic surgery. There are, however, some conditions that may require surgery for improved orthopedic outcomes.
In these cases, Dr. Mody would work with you to refer the case to an orthopedic surgeon whom he trusts to provide the appropriate care for his patients. If you have a condition that requires orthopedic surgery, at ESMI we will always advise you of this immediately and discuss with you all treatment options and likely outcomes.
ESMI involves you in the decisions about your sports medicine care. We encourage a more integrated approach in which we endeavor educating you about your condition and seek your personal input in determining the most suitable sports medicine plan of care for you. We hope you enjoy your experience at ESMI with our caring and honest way of providing best of care for your needs.
A native of Chicago, with a passion for sports that began early in childhood and has remained a lifelong fan of the Cubs, Bulls and Bears. When he later became committed to pursuing a life in medicine he knew he wanted to combine his two greatest loves – sports and medicine. As such, even during his medical school days, Dr. Mody took every training opportunity available in sports medicine and often created his own learning opportunities.
While in medical school, Dr. Mody completed Sports Medicine rotations in Chicago, Houston and Los Angeles where he covered high school, college teams as well as pro golf events and marathons. He received his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School/Finch University of Health Sciences. Dr. Mody completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center at Shadyside Hospital, where he also spent extensive time at the UPMC Sports Medicine Center learning from the likes of Drs. David Stone & Tanya Hagen as well as some of the orthopedic surgeons.
During residency, Dr. Mody also worked in Australia with local sports physicians as well as with doctors at the renowned Australian Sports Medicine Institute. There he treated athletes of all sorts and covered sports such as rugby and cricket. Also during residency, Dr. Mody worked in Dallas where he covered triathlons, high school and college football as well as rodeos.
Dr. Mody’s fellowship training in Sports Medicine occurred at the University of Connecticut where he took care of the Connecticut Huskies. He covered athletes in the training room, at games and in a clinical setting for all injuries and medical conditions. Game coverage included UConn Division I football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and hockey. He also worked with the Hartford Foxforce pro tennis team and the Connecticut Sun (WNBA). He was trained by Drs. Thomas Trojian, Jeffrey Anderson and Diana Heiman in Sports Medicine as well as Drs. Robert Arciero and. Michael Joyce in Orthopaedics. Needless to say, with his close work with UConn.
Dr. Mody is also a very avid Huskies fan!
Led by Dr. Ketan Mody, ESMI delivers advanced non-surgical orthopedic and sports medicine solutions with integrity, compassion, and a commitment to helping patients of all ages return to the activities they love.
